Move-Out Steps at a Glance
Moving out is a big transition, and we're here to make it as smooth and clear as possible. Follow these steps in order to stay on track and understand what to expect during your move-out process at Maymont Homes.
Before you decide
- 1
Review Your Lease and Notice Requirements
Before you make any decisions, take a moment to review your lease agreement. Most leases require 60 days' written notice to vacate, but your specific property may have different requirements so it's important to double check.
First step
- 2
Submit Your Notice to Vacate
To submit your notice to vacate, use our digital form to begin the notice process, making sure to account for the notice period outlined in your lease. Include your intended move-out date and forwarding address for our records, and our team will follow up with next steps to complete your official notice.

Schedule Your Pre-Move-Out Inspection
After you submit your notice to vacate, our customer service team will reach out to schedule your in-person pre-move-out inspection, typically 30–45 days before your move-out date. You will also receive a link around 21–30 days out to complete a digital self-inspection from your phone. Both inspections are optional, but we encourage all residents to participate.

Return All Keys and Access Items
On or before your move-out date, please return all keys, garage door openers, access cards, and mailbox keys. Returning these items allows us to secure the home, begin turnover, and properly close out your lease. After keys and access devices are returned, re-entry is not permitted for safety reasons.

Review Utility Charges
If your home's utilities are managed through SimpleBills, you will receive an estimated final utility statement before your move-out date. This estimate reflects any remaining charges for services used during your final billing period. Please review and settle this balance prior to leaving to ensure your account can be closed without delay. Learn more on the Maymont Homes SimpleBills page.

Security Deposit
After you move out, our team will complete a final walk-through of the home. You will then receive a final security deposit statement (also called a Statement of Deposit Accounting, or SODA) that documents your original deposit and any charges applied. If a refund is due, we will mail it to your forwarding address within the timeframe required in your state.
Note: Requirements may vary based on your lease agreement and local regulations. This guide is for general guidance only. Please review your signed lease for specific terms. For any questions, contact the Maymont Team at (833) 426-6739 (option 5). We'll be happy to assist.

Move-Out FAQs for Maymont Homes Residents
Here are answers to the most common questions about the move-out process at Maymont Homes.
Please plan to begin at least 60 days before your intended move-out date by submitting your Notice to Vacate. Most Maymont leases include a 60-day written notice requirement, and you can find your specific notice period in your lease.
To get started, visit our Notice to Vacate page. Our team will help confirm your timeline and provide the official notice link.
If you're unsure about your required notice period, feel free to submit the form on the Notice to Vacate page or call us at (833) 426-6739, and we'll be happy to help you confirm the details before your notice period begins.
There are five steps to guide you through the move-out process. Submit your Notice to Vacate, follow the move-out timeline (including your pre move-out inspection), prepare the home using the cleaning checklist, review the Security Deposit Refund Guide for details on how your deposit is handled, and return your keys by 12:00 PM on your move-out date.

Your final utility bill depends on whether your home uses SimpleBills or independently managed utilities. Here's what to expect for each.
SimpleBills homes: You'll receive an estimated final statement before your move-out date covering any remaining charges from your final billing period. Make sure your balance is up to date before move-out day so your account can be closed without delay. Learn more at maymonthomes.com/simplebills.
Independently managed utilities: Contact your utility providers directly to schedule disconnection for the day after your lease end date. Utilities must remain active through your move-out day. This is required for final cleaning and inspection.
